I am interested in opinions on whether the long term abuse of alcohol can eventually lead to symptoms that mirror alzehiemers. I am specifically referring to a 72yr old man who quit drinking 10 years ago. He drank heavily his entire adult life. His symptoms include memory loss, blank stare, fear to be alone, mood swings, ect. His Dr. says it is not alzheimers of parkinsons. He refuses to inform the Dr. of the long term alsohol abuse.
