“Stimulating debate in core psychoanalytic and interdisciplinary subject areas”

The 43rd Congress of the International Psychoanalytical Association is a five-day interdisciplinary conference open to anyone – practitioners or students – with an interest in psychoanalysis. Many of the world’s leading psychoanalysts will be at the Congress to give papers and to participate in panels, workshops and small discussion groups.

Highlights include:

· Opening address from Prof. Antonio Damasio, ‘The Neurobiology of Feeling’

· Prof. Sonia Abadi: ‘Between the Frontier and the Network, Notes for a Metapsychology of Freedom’

· Prof. Glen Gabbard: ‘Miscarriages of Psychoanalytic Treatment with Suicidal Patients’

· Prof. Shmuel Erlich: ‘Working at the Frontier and the Use of the Analyst’

· Representation And Object Relations: Multiple Approaches To A Clinical Case:
6 Panels discussing different approaches to the same material

· Dialogues with other non-IPA Psychoanalytic schools, Analytical Psychologists, and Researchers in Cognitive Sciences.
