TREATING PSYCHE AND SOMA:
Psychotherapy for Binge Eating Disorder Following a "Successful" Gastric
Banding Surgery

Dr. Frank will present an integrative psychotherapy model for addressing a
previously untreated eating disorder in a patient who experienced a
recurrence of binge eating symptoms after surgery enabled her to lose
three hundred pounds over a two year period.

Mary Ann Frank, Ph.D. received her doctorate from City college in New York
and completed her postdoctoral training at the Yale center for eating and
weight disorders, where she remained on staff as clinical director until
1998. She is the co-author of several papers on comparative group
psychotherapy for binge eating disorder, and is an expert in
interpersonal group psychotherapy for binge eating disorder. She is
currently in private practice in New Haven, CT
