An integrative introduction to the subject of children's make-believe play, with a chapter devoted to an integrative model of individual , group and family play therapy. The other chapters include a formal definition of the concept make-believe play, the socioemotional and developmental functions of make-believe play, play in a cross-cultural perspective and educational applications.
Children's make-believe play is examined in this book through a theoretical perspective which synthesizes concepts from clinical, cognitive and social psychology, anthropology and linguistics.
Dr. Shlomo Ariel is the Director of the Integrative Psychotherapy Center, Ramat Gan, Israel and the Israeli Play Therapy Institute.
