Neuro Psychoanalysis Program
The explosion of new insights in the neurosciences has addressed numerous problems of vital interest to psychoanalysis. This new knowledge is only beginning to be reconciled and coordinated with the existing body of knowledge about the mind. At the same time, neuroscientists tackling complex psychological problems for the first time, have begun to look at psychoanalysis to provide them with questions and data available only through the careful study of the productions of the human mind. Recognizing the crucial need for a fruitful dialogue between researchers and clinicians belonging to historically separated disciplines, The New York Psychoanalytic has pioneered a program in neuro-psychoanalysis. The first in the world, it is the model for programs developing in the United States and internationally. The first issue of the first scientific journal dedicated to this new area, Neuro-Psychoanalysis, appeared in the summer of 1999.
