I am interested in the use of psychoanalysis in treating addiction. I come from a 12-step, medical model background and am expanding my knowledge. I am looking for cites for the history of psychoanalysis in addiction treatment.
What are the implications of psychoanalysis. I have been told that group therapy with a 12-step approach is the only treatment for so long that I have accepted it pretty much without question. Can someone enlighten me a little.
