Discussion of Alcoholism

After reading all the posts, I realize that we each have our own stories with the one common thread of not understanding the complete scope of dementia. My husband, who is 62, was first diagnosed with alcohol induced dementia, then diagnosed with Alzheimers, then vascular dementia. I know that he has always been a heavy drinker, and I tend to believe that it is mostly caused by alcohol. Please share any information that you have with me. I do not know what to expect and the doctor is not a lot of help except he says he will get no better probably worse. I still work and it is completely necessary for insurance purposes and financial support. I do not know how to plan for the next few years, please let me know any information you have.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers each day. God bless all of you. This is the most devastating disease a person can experience. I had rather him have heart problems or cancer. At least, I could have the whole person with me for some time.
