Discussion of Alcoholism

I first noticed strange sleep patterns about three years ago. I was in a deep sleep with very strange dreams which actually bordered on hallucinations. This occurred 24 hours after a drinking binge. I didnt experience anything until about a year later only this time I heard noises upon waking up or going to sleep. I believe this is called "hypnopompia" and "hypnogogic" sleep related auditory hallucinations.
The hallucinations in my dreams, along with disordered thoughts and incomplete thoughts during such dreams, have increased in frequency and they are noticeable related to drinking binges within 12 to 24 hours after drinking.I am able to wake myself up, to realize that something is wrong, and so far I have been able to return to a normal state of mind, yet all of this is very confusing and very frightening. After 25 years of drinking heavily every 3 days or so, I finally have a REAL reason to stop.
I cant think of anything else causing this for I am not schizophrenic nor do I have narcolepsy. I have chronic clinical depression but clinical depression doesnt usually cause hallucinations and paranoia.
I am very grateful for a site such as this where I can finally get a grip on this horrible condition!!
