Extension Division
The Extension Division provides, at no charge, a rich and varied educational curriculum of lectures, seminars and colloquia to practitioners and trainees in the fields of psychiatry, psychology and social work who are interested in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. These professions might otherwise have little exposure to psychoanalytic theory and practice. For the community at large, the Extension Division provides courses and lectures on the application of psychoanalysis to politics, parenting, literature, the theatre, religion and other aspects of our culture and society.

The Foundation's Goals:

  • To fund the expansion of the Extension Division's activities to lectures and seminars on site at social agencies and hospitals.
  • To purchase a state-of-the-art audiovisual system to enhance the quality of the teaching presentations
  • To offer programs to the public addressing such societal problems as prejudice and discrimination, violence, child abuse, divorce, and teenage pregnancy.

Contributions to The New York Psychoanalytic Foundation are tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law.
