Parent-Child Center
The Parent Child Center of the New York Psychoanalytic Society provides a critical community outreach function, offering a unique experience in parent education for parents and their young children. The program is conducted at the New York Psychoanalytic Institute where parents with young children meet with our professionals. The goal of this program is to enhance the quality of the parent-child relationships of the participants and to ensure the healthy psychological development of each participating child during the critical first three years of life. The Center has become an important resource for other members of the community working in the area of child development and is led by members of the Child and Adolescent Program.

The Foundation's Goals:

  • To fund the development of an observational/research nursery in which trainees interested in infant development can collect data from mother-infant pairs.
  • To support the development of a liaison program with the Program for Inherited Metabolic Disorders at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
  • To give financial support for parent education. The Parent-Child Center aims to publish a periodical to impart psychoanalytically informed education for parents of babies and toddlers as well as offering a series of evening talks for parents of very young children.

Contributions to The New York Psychoanalytic Foundation are tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law.
