Treatment Center
The Treatment Center is the oldest psychoanalytic treatment and referral service in the United States. It was established in 1948 to provide candidates in training at the Institute with suitable patients who would otherwise be unable to afford this time-intensive form of treatment. Psychoanalytic candidates are required to treat one low-
fee patient from the Treatment Center, but usually treat at least two.

A senior training analyst supervises each case. Students training
to be child and adolescent analysts also offer affordable treatment
to children in need. ---------------------------------------More information >>

The Foundation's Goals

  • To fund more low-or-no-cost analysis for children and adults in need.
  • To publicize this unique, but little known, resource to the community.
  • To promote referrals for psychoanalytic treatment through the efforts of individual Board Members functioning as formal and informal liaisons with other institutions.
  • To support critically needed outcome research that documents the efficacy of psychoanalytic treatment.

Contributions to The New York Psychoanalytic Foundation are tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law.
